Welcome to the Dept of New Jersey of American Gold Star Mothers. If you're a Gold Star mom
from New Jersey and would
like to meet others in your situation please contact us.
Thank you to all those who attended our Holiday Luncheon
Meeting. We had a great attendance. Terry's VFW, under
his guidance, always makes sure the Hall and setup is
ready by the time we all get there, The room was very
festive. J. Gregory's catered luncheon was delicious. We
welcomed six new members to the Dept.
Col. Chris Patterson's speech was genuine and caring.
Our guests, Frank Rodgers and his wife Lisa gave us each
a beautiful White Poinsettia to take home and Terry's
friend, Debbie gave us each a star shaped dish with
chocolates. Our hospital fund received $434.00 from the
raffle. Thank you so much to our friends of the Gold
Star Moms who have now provided our luncheon for the
past three years.
Ken Gurbisz, Gold Star Dad, brought us up to date on the
Gold Star Family Monument to be placed at Holmdel and
our gave us pins, car plaques, and a bracelet. He also
brought an artists rendition of what the monument will
look like. Judith Young brought us up to date on the
National Gold Star Mother's Monument for D.C.
June Capron, our VAVS Rep. received a pin for her 257
hours which she volunteered this past year at the VA
Hospital. Ninety eight personalized Honor and Remember
Flags have now been presented to NJ Families. We are
always looking for sponsors.
Thank you to those who stepped up to help me out. Kerry

Also, so happy for those who traveled a distance did
not have to deal with the snow like we had on Sunday and
were able to catch the great EAGLES football game.
Two important messages: If you have not paid your $20.00
dues for 2014, please try to get them to your Chapter
President before the end of the year.
Also, please get your Community Service report to
firstname.lastname@example.org. This is so very important. This
report covers Jan. 1, 2013 through Dec. 21, 2013.

Freehold Borough Receives Honor and Remember Flag,
Feb 19, 2013
On Wednesday, February 19, 2013 American Legion Post 54
presented an Honor and Remember Flag to Mayor Nolan
Higgins at the Freehold Borough Committee Meeting. The
flying of this flag was authorized by Governor Chris
Christie with the purpose to create, establish and
promote a nationally recognized flag that would fly
continuously as a visible
reminder to all Americans of the lives lost in defense
or our national freedoms. All Military lives lost not
only in action but also in service, from our nation’s
inception. In our over 200 year history there has never
been an official national symbol that specifically
recognized in gratitude and respect the ultimate
sacrifice made by members of the United States military
in service to our nation. The Honor and Remember Flag
was created for that purpose.
