in many memorial events around the country and
you're welcome to join us.
If you've lost your child in the service
of the country and would like the community
of others in your situation, we invite you to
join us. No one knows how you feel like
another mother who has lost a child.

Jennifer Jackman is
elected President of AGSM for 2014
is partnering with the Center
Study of Traumatic
Stress which will collect
data for a new 5-year study of
the impact of a U.S. service
member death on surviving family
members. The goal of the
National Military Family
Bereavement Study is to hear
about the experiences of family
survivors of active-duty deaths
Results from the study about the
effects of bereavement on
children and families will be
used to help the military and
health care workers provide
improved support and better
programs for military survivors.
Senior Field Researcher, Jill
Harrington-LaMorie, DSW, will
provide study updates and
present preliminary research
results at the national
convention in June.
Opportunities to participate in
the study will be available at
an "Hooray for Hollywood"
presentation put to music with
pictures of GS Moms and
volunteer work. It will be shown
at the GS banquet over GS
Mothers Weekend and at the
reception on GSM Sunday in DC.
We would like each Chapter and
Department to email pictures
showing your members and
associates at your volunteer
activities to Maria Martens,
MI and ME have recently passed legislation
Gold Star Family license plate.
DC has had no
action on legislation. Even Guam
has GS plate. If you live in
DC contact your local
legislator and support this
legislation. If you don't live
in DC contact your federal
legislators and urge them to
support this effort.

that since the District of
Columbia is the only
jurisdiction in the United
States that does not offer a
Gold Star Family license plate,
it is further resolved that
American Gold Star Mothers, Inc,
supports a Gold Star Family
license plate for the District
of Columbia and this shall be
